HCC To Attend FPA Annual Meeting and Convention

This year marks the 124th annual meeting and convention for the Florida Pharmacy Association. This year’s convention will take place at the Marriott Harbor Spa and Beach Resort located in Fort Lauderdale from July 9th to the 13th. The FPA is known in Florida for being the premiere state organization that represents pharmacies and pharmacists in their tasks of providing quality healthcare. Their membership includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others with an interest in the business and profession of pharmacy. Representation includes community pharmacy (both chain and independent), hospital, long term care, consulting, pharmacy owners, employee pharmacists, compounding, managed care, specialty, academia, government service, nuclear and clinical pharmacy practices.This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Daniel Buffington, Pharm D and MBA. Dr. Buffington is nationally recognized for his development of a private “Clinical Pharmacology” specialty practice model that provides Medication Therapy Management (MTM) consult services, a clinical research trial center, a national drug information center, and a forensic pharmacology service.In addition as part of the convention, the FPA is offering a total of 30 contact hours for continuing education purposes. A total of 23 contact hours for general continuing education (GCE) and 22 hours may be used for consultant re-certification (RC). Numerous scheduled topics include:

• It’s Really Lupus! - Now What?
• Antimicrobial Management of Skin and Soft Tissue Infections
• Pneumonia: The Captain of Death
• Working Your Network: How Small Talk Can Open Big Opportunities
