Online CE Webinar - Pharmacist's Role in Stroke Prevention

Continuing Education is an important requirement for all pharmacists. Not only is it required in all states to maintain and renew our pharmacy licenses, it is instrumental in keeping us all aware and current on what is new in our profession and industry. The Faculty Speaker will be Philip Coco, PharmD, BCPS, a renowned and respected Clinical Pharmacy Generalist at Hunterdon Medical Center located in Flemington, New Jersey.The pharmacist's role in stoke prevention is one area where pharmacists can play an important role in our community and actually help save lives. Stroke is now the fourth leading cause of death in the United States, especially among our elderly patients. It is a major factor in contributing to many cases of long term disability and in many cases can be prevented. This webinar is aimed at identifying and addressing the educational gaps found in stroke prevention. After completion of this webinar, pharmacists should be able to:

• Describe the role of newer oral anticoagulant agents (NOACs) in stroke prevention
• Demonstrate an understanding of the successful tactics that will eliminate delays or gaps in pharmacotherapy following discharge from an inpatient setting
• Identify methods to improve noncompliance among patients who are prescribed anticoagulant therapy with a focus on those that are preparing for discharge or have been recently discharged from an inpatient setting
• Recognize and adopt tactics to overcome common communication barriers between in- and outpatient pharmacists, as well as with providers
