Walgreens Laying Off 252 Employees in Central Florida
Walgreens announced earlier this month that it plans to layoff 252 employees working currently in its Central Florida Operations facility this spring. The facility is located in Orlando, Florida at 8337 Southpark Circle and the layoffs are planned to take place on April 2nd. In a notice to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Walgreens stated that it "plans to close the Central Fill function of the Central Pharmacy Operation and eliminate all existing positions in that function." Additionally, the company will reduce the number of employees in the Central Utility and Support functions of the facility. A breakdown of the positions to be eliminated include 27 Pharmacist positions and 57 Specialist positions (the majority of the specialists being Florida licensed Pharmacy Technicians).
